3 Oct 1940
At 0720A/3, HMS Talisman (Lt.Cdr. P.S. Francis, RN) is machine gunned by a German Dornier 215 aircraft near position 49°55'N, 04°53'W. The Officer of the Watch T/S.Lt. P.S. Thirsk, RNR was wounded by a bullet in his left foot. At 1050A/3 he was transferred to an MA/SB to be taken to hospital.
At 1140A/3, HMS Talisman made rendes-vous with HMS Jasper (T/Lt. G.T.S. Clampitt, RNR) which escorted her north through the Irish Sea. (1)
6 Oct 1940
HMS Porpoise (Lt.Cdr. J.G. Hopkins, RN) departed Holy Loch for her 9th war patrol. She was ordered to patrol in the Bay of Biscay. During her passage south through the Irish Sea Porpoise was escorted by HMS Jasper (T/Lt. G.T.S. Clampitt, RNR).

3 Jan 1941
HMS Unbeaten (Lt. E.A. Woodward, RN) conducted A/S exercises off Dartmouth with HMS Ruby (T/Lt. R.P. Chapman, RNR) and HMS Jasper (T/Lt. G.T.S. Clampitt, RNR). The exercises were soon abandoned due to bad weather. (3)
23 May 1942
HMS H 34 (Lt. F.D.G. Challis, DSC, RN) departed Portsmouth for Plymouth. She was escorted by HMS Jasper (T/Lt. W.T. Hodson, RNVR). (4)
20 Nov 1942
With her refit completed HMS Torbay (Lt. R.J. Clutterbuck, RN) departed from the Devonport Dockyard.
She first conducted D/G and compass adjustment trials off Plymouth during which she was escorted by HMS Jasper (T/Lt. W.T. Hodson, RNVR).
She then left Plymouth around 1500A/20 for Holy Loch. During the passage to Holy Loch she was escorted by HMS Breda (Capt.(Retd.) A. E. Johnston, RN). HMS Otway (Lt. A.A. Duff, RN) was also in company until 0813A/23 when she was detached to Barrow-in-Furness. (5)
