HMS Cornelian (T/A/Lt.Cdr. S. Gorrell, RNR) picks up 16 survivors from the Belgian merchant Persier that was torpedoed and sunk by German U-boat U-1017 off the Eddystone Lighthouse in position 50°14'N, 04°20'W.
