In March 1942 the small village of Slaidburn, England (offsite link) raised money during "Warship Week" to sponsor HMT Brontes.

HMS Northern Wave (T/Lt. L.C. Head, RNVR) and HMS Brontes (Cdr. T.St.V.F. Tyler (retired), RN) together pick up 25 survivors from the British tanker Daghestan that was torpedoed and sunk by German U-boat U-57 nine nautical miles east of Copinsay, Orkneys in position 58°47'N, 02°46'W.

4 Dec 1943
HMS Telemachus (Cdr. W.D.A. King, DSO, DSC, RN) conducted A/S exercises off Scapa Flow together with HMS Tenacious (Lt.Cdr. D.F. Townsend, RN), HMS Virago (Lt.Cdr. A.J.R. White, RN), HMS Brontes (Skr. A.E. Wood, RNR) and HMS Istria (Skr. A.E. Larner, RNR). (1)

15 May 1944
HMS Unrivalled (Lt. D.S. Brown, RNVR) was joined at 0600 hours off Morecambe Bay by her escort towards Rothesay, HMS Brontes (T/Skr. B. Truefitt, RNR). They arrived at Rothesay later the same day. (2)

11 Dec 1944
HMS Ultimatum (Lt. W.H. Kett, DSC, RNR) shifted from Portland to Portsmouth. She was escorted by HMS Brontes (Skr. A.E. Wood, RNR). (3)
