HMT Aston Villa (Cdr.(retired) Sir Geoffrey Cecil Congreve, RN) was heavily damaged on 30 April 1940 by German dive bombers in Kroken Bay near Namsos, Norway. Scuttled on 3 May 1940.

HMS H 50 (Lt.Cdr.(Retd.) J.R.G. Harvey, RN) conducted A/S exercises off Portland with HMS Aston Villa (Cdr.(Retd.) Sir G.C. Congreve, RN) and HMS Kingston Cyanite (Skr. F.A. Yeomans, RNR).

[No logs are available for HMS H 50 for the months of February / April 1940, therefore no details on her operations can be given. H 50 was at Portland for A/S training the entire time with the exception of a short period at Portsmouth in mid/late March 1940 which included a docking.]
