History | USS Maryland (Capt. D.C. Godwin) was damaged at Pearl Harbour on 7 December 1941 but on 30 December she arrived at the Puget Sound Navy Yard repair yard. She returned to service on 26 February 1942 and saw extensive action in the Pacific. Decommissioned 3 April 1947. |

While anchored off Garapan, Saipan, in position 15°13'N, 145°39'E USS Maryland is damaged in the bow by an aerial torpedo from a Japanese aircraft.
Damage was repaired at Pearl Harbor and she was ready for service again on August 19th.
