Northern fleet.

M-174 departed base on 14 October 1943 for a patrol of the Verangerfjord. She never returned and was most likely sunk after hitting a mine in a German defensive minefield.

26 Sep 1941
M-174 fires two torpedoes at the German merchant Aldebaran (7891 GRT) moored at a pier at Linakhamari. The torpedoes missed the German ship but hit the pier instead.

21 Dec 1941
M-174 torpedoed and sank the German merchant Emsh?rn (4301 GRT) off the Varangerfjord about 8 nautical miles east of Ekkeroy in position 70°04'N, 30°32'E.

9 Apr 1942
M-174 fires (a) torpedo(es) against the small German tanker Dollart (534 GRT) off Kirkeness. The enemy ship was not hit.

11 Mar 1943
M-174 fires two torpedoes against ' what is identified as ' a auxiliary patrol vessel off the Varangerfjord. Both torpedoes missed their target.

24 Mar 1943
At 1340 hours M-174 hits a mine off the Varangerfjord in position 70°10'N, 30°68'E. The submarine is heavily damaged with part of her bow blown off (see also the photograph above). She managed to return to base the following day.
