With her trials and initial training completed USS Ronquil (Lt.Cdr. H.S. Monroe) arrived at Pearl Harbor.

31 Jul 1944
USS Ronquil (Lt.Cdr. H.S. Monroe) departed from Pearl Harbor for her 1st war patrol. She was ordered to patrol off Formosa.

4 Aug 1944
USS Ronquil (Lt.Cdr. H.S. Monroe) topped up with fuel at Midway.

24 Aug 1944
While operating off Formosa USS Ronquil (Lt.Cdr. H.S. Monroe) torpedoed and sank the Japanese army cargo ship Yoshida Maru No.3 (4646 GRT) off Keelung, Formosa in position 25°29'N, 123°15'E and the Japanese merchant cargo ship Fukurei Maru (5969 GRT) off Sankaku Island in position 25°13'N, 121°49'E.

8 Sep 1944

30 Sep 1944
USS Ronquil (Lt.Cdr. H.S. Monroe) departed from Majuro for her 2nd war patrol. She was ordered to patrol off Honshu, Japan.

8 Nov 1944
USS Ronquil (Lt.Cdr. H.S. Monroe) enters Saipan for a short refit.

10 Nov 1944
USS Ronquil (Lt.Cdr. H.S. Monroe) departed from Saipan, she was ordered to patrol south of Japan to destroy Japanese guard boats.

17 Nov 1944
USS Ronquil (Lt.Cdr. H.S. Monroe) and USS Burrfish (Lt.Cdr. W.B. Perkins, Jr.) heavily damaged the Japanese guard boat Fusa Maru (177 GRT) south of Hachiro Jima, Japan in position 32°15'N, 140°00'E.

Burrfish is damaged by gunfire from the Japanese ship and Ronquil is damaged, most likely, by the premature explosion of a 40 millimetre shell.

28 Nov 1944
USS Ronquil (Lt.Cdr. H.S. Monroe) ended her 2nd war patrol at Pearl Harbor.

21 Dec 1944
