History

USS Greenfish sank U-234 by a torpedo during trials approximately 40 miles north-east off Cape Cod, on the US east coast on 20 November 1947.

Decommissioned, stricken and transferred to Brazil 19 December 1973 being renamed Amazonas (S-16).
Stricken by the Brazilian Navy 15 October 1992 and transformed into a museum.
