6 Mar 1940
HrMs O 11 (Lt. H.A.W. Goossens, RNN) is accidentaly rammed and sunk by the Dutch guard vessel BV 3 (tug Amsterdam) while leaving Den Helder harbour. Three of the crew are killed. The submarine is salvaged and taken to the Navy Yard to undergo repairs.

When Germany invaded the Netherlands these repairs had not been completed and O 11 was scuttled to prevent her from being captured.
