History | In June 1938 she was converted into light seaplane-tender and re-designated as AVP-15 on 1 July 1938. on 2 August 1940 she was reclassified AVD-2 (Mixed escort and seaplane-tender duties), and on 1 December 1943 she was reclassified back to DD-244. She served in various escort duties, and was part of the destroyer-screen off Okinawa in 1945. Decommissioned on 8 November 1945, stricken on 19 December 1945 and sold for scrap on 30 October 1946. USS Williamson was awarded 4 Battle Stars for her services during World War 2. |
