USS Drexler (Cdr. Ronald Lee Wilson, USN) was hit and sunk by a Japanese kamikaze plane north-west of Okinawa in position 27º06'N, 127º38'E. 164 of her crew were lost with the ship. Amongst the survivors was the Commanding Officer who was wounded.
