USS Borie arrived at Pearl Harbor to join the Pacific fleet.
9 Aug 1945
USS Borie (Cmdr Noah Adair, jr.) is hit by a Japanese kamikaze aircraft east of Honshu, Japan in position 37°21'N, 143°45'E. Borie was hit between the mast and the 5-inch gun director causing extensive damage. 48 men were killed and 66 men were wounded.
