History | Norwegian whaler of Hvalfangerselskap Kosmos A/S (Anders Jahre), Sandefjord, Norway taken over by the Admiralty in July 1940 (ship had a Norwegain crew while in Royal Navy service. At 2345 hours on 24 August 1941 the British destroyer HMS Wolsey, rams Kos XVI (Lt. M. Fredriksen) from behind at high speed. Shortly after midnight on 25 August Kos XVI sank as a result ofthe damage inflicted off Hull in position 53º50'N, 00º35E. |
