Duane assisted USCGC Spencer in sinking U-175 near Convoy HX-233. After the U-boat sank, Duane recovered 22 survivors. (1)

HMS Untamed (Lt. G.M. Noll, RN) conducted exercises off Lough Foyle with USCGC Duane (Capt. H.G. Bradbury, USCG) and HMS Keppel (Cdr. M.J. Evans, OBE, RN). (2)
