Notes on event | At 19.17 hours on 1 Jul 1940 the unescorted Adamastos was stopped by U-29 southwest of Ireland. The crew abandoned ship immediately when the U-boat surfaced nearby. The Germans then boarded the ship for fresh provisions and sank her by gunfire. |
