Notes on event

At 17.53 hours on 21 June 1940 the unescorted Luxembourg (Master Louis Deburges) was hit aft by one G7e torpedo from U-38 and sank west of St. Nazaire. The ship had been bound for Antwerp, but was diverted to Bordeaux and anchored at Le Verdon on 20 June when she was ordered to leave to Falmouth. Five men were killed and one wounded of the 46 crew members on board.
