History | Built as French D´Entrecasteaux for Co Française de Navigation à Vapeur Chargeurs Réunis, Paris On 1 Jul 1941, she was captured by the British cruiser HMS Dunedin and transferred to the Ministry of War Transport (MoWT). | ||
Notes on event | On 8 Nov 1942 the unescorted D´Entrecasteaux (Master William Jones) was torpedoed and sunk by U-154 about 150 miles east of Barbados. One crew member and two gunners were lost. The master, 57 crew members and five gunners landed on the island of Dominica, part of the Leeward Islands, on 14 November. | ||
