Notes on event | At 14.14 hours on 24 April 1945 the unescorted Monmouth Coast (Master Albert Henry Standen) was torpedoed and sunk by U-1305 about 7 miles northeast of Tory Island. The master, 13 crew members and two gunners were lost. The sole survivor, messroom boy Derek Cragg, was rescued by a Irish fishing boat and landed at Arranmore Island on 26 April. | ||
