Notes on event

On 18 Dec 1944 the Silverlaurel (Master John Duncan, OBE) in convoy BTC-10 was torpedoed and sunk by U-486 south of the Eddystone Lighthouse. The master, 45 crew members, ten gunners and nine passengers were picked up by the British coaster Monkstone and landed at Plymouth.
