Notes on event | At 23.40 hours on 11 Jan 1944 the unescorted Triona (Master Long) was slightly damaged by two torpedoes from U-532 that detonated in her anti-torpedo nets while steaming at 12 knots about 350 miles south of Ceylon. The U-boat reported that two further torpedoes presumably passed underneath the ship without detonating. The ship escaped and continued to Australia, where she was repaired in Melbourne and returned to service after six weeks. | ||
