Notes on event | At 17.33 hours on 17 April 1940 the unescorted Swainby (Master Hugh Thompson) was hit aft in the engine room by one torpedo from U-13 and sank after 25 minutes 25 miles north of Muckle Flugga, Shetlands. The master and 37 crew members landed at Nor Wick Bay, Shetlands. | ||
