The master, 54 crew members and 32 passengers abandoned ship in lifeboats and made landfall at Jequiá beach, São Miguel dos Campos where they received first aid, food and clothes from the local population. Later they were transported to Maceió where 22 injured survivors were taken to a hospital. On 27 September, the crew member Domingos Silva Santos (who had survived the sinking of Arabutan) died of his wounds and was buried at Santa Casa´s cemetry the same day.
