Notes on event | At 17.45 hours on 5 Aug 1943 the unescorted Efthalia Mari was hit by two torpedoes from U-177 and sank after 8 minutes east of Madagascar. The ship had been spotted in the morning by using the Bachstelze autogyro. The Germans questioned survivors in a lifeboat before leaving the area. |
