Notes on event

At 20.46 hours on 22 June 1943, U-572 fired a spread of four torpedoes at convoy UGS-10 and hit the Lot in station #111 with two of them about 1100 miles west-northwest of Cape Verde Islands. The tanker was struck on the starboard side, exploded and sank by the stern within three minutes. The survivors were picked up by USS Merrimack (AO 37) and an escorting corvette.
