| History | Completed in December 1939. Lot took part in the Norwegian campaign in 1940 and after the armistice was sent to Indochina by the Vichy French Navy to support the submarines stationed there, arriving in March 1941. The fleet oiler was later based in Madagascar and Morocco, where she was during Operation Torch in November 1942 and joined the Free French Navy. | ||
| Notes on event | At 20.46 hours on 22 June 1943, U-572 fired a spread of four torpedoes at convoy UGS-10 and hit the Lot in station #111 with two of them about 1100 miles west-northwest of Cape Verde Islands. The tanker was struck on the starboard side, exploded and sank by the stern within three minutes. The survivors were picked up by USS Merrimack (AO 37) and an escorting corvette. | ||
