Notes on event | On 8 Jan 1943 the unescorted Yorkwood (Master Frank Herbert Fenn) was torpedoed and sunk by U-507 northwest of Ascension Island. One crew member was lost. The master was taken prisoner by the Germans and lost when the U-boat was sunk five days later. 38 crew members and eight gunners landed at Macau, Brazil. | ||
