History | Completed in September 1941 as Empire Glade for Ministry of War Transport (MoWT), managed by Blue Star Line Ltd, London. 1943 transferred to manager G. Heyn & Sons Ltd, Belfast. Post-war: 1945 renamed Inishowen Head for Ulster SS Co Ltd (G. Heyn & Sons Ltd), Belfast. 1962 sold to Greece and renamed Maria N. for Platsani Ltda SA (L. Nomicos). In July 1972 broken up at Istanbul. | ||
Notes on event | On 28 Nov 1942, U-67 hit the unescorted Empire Glade with gunfire, but the vessel escaped and reached Charleston on 7 December. One of the six gunners aboard was killed. | ||
