Notes on event

At 05.19 hours on 15 Nov 1942 the unescorted King Arthur (Master Angus MacNeil) was hit by two torpedoes from U-67 west of Trinidad. The U-boat fired three coups de grâce, the first at 05.27 hours missed, the second at 05.39 hours hit in the stern and the third at 05.47 hours hit amidships. The vessel capsized to port and sank at 05.51 hours. The master, 32 crew members and seven gunners were rescued by an American patrol ship and landed at Trinidad.
