History Completed in October 1917 as Maine for US Shipping Board (USSB). 1920 sold to Green Star SS Corp, New York. but 1921 returned. 1923 sold to Fairfield SS Corp, New York. 1940 given to Britain and renamed Empire Lynx by Ministry of War Transport (MoWT). 
Notes on event

At 00.15 hours on 4 Nov 1942, U-132 attacked convoy SC-107 about 500 miles southeast of Cape Farewell, sank the Hobbema and Empire Lynx and damaged Hatimura. The U-boat was lost after this attack when her last victim, the Hatimura, exploded.

The master, 34 crew members and eight gunners from the Empire Lynx (Master Thomas Herbert Muitt) were picked up by the Dutch merchant Titus and landed at Liverpool on 10 November.
