Notes on event | U-77 reported that she had sunk eight sailing vessels with gunfire between 22 July and 16 August 1942. Six of these vessels were Vassiliki, Toufic El Rahman, St. Simon, Ezzet, Kharouf and Daniel. The Adnan was only damaged and a unidentified sailing vessel was sunk on 7 August. At 04.53 hours on 22 July 1942 the Vassiliki was shelled with ten rounds from the deck gun after the crew had abandoned ship. The schooner caught fire and sank. The crew safely reached Famagusta. |
