At 20.10 hours on 5 June 1942, U-159 fired five shots from the deck gun at the Sally (Master Julius August Muller) and scored three hits that caused the vessel to sink about 100 miles south of Santo Domingo at 21.15 hours. The sailing vessel was reported missing after leaving Aruba to pick up fresh food in Santo Domingo. A search was carried out after the Sally failed to arrive, but no sign of her or the crew was ever found.
