On 6 March 1942 U-587 torpedoed and sank a ship reported to be a camouflaged Greenland patrol vessel named Hawse Gude, but this must have been Hans Egede (Master Niels Oluf Christian Petersen) which was reported missing in Canadian waters since 4 March.
