Personal information
Son of Albert Ernest and Mable Siedle, of London. Salesman for H.J. Heinz Company, of Pittsburgh, PA. He was rescued by USS Roper after the sinking of City of New York in April 1942 and married Margaret Helen Shortreed at Pittsburgh, PA on 4 July 1942.
Geoffrey Ernest Siedle had been a pilot in the Royal Naval Air Service (RNAS) since 28 May 1917, later flew D.H.4 bombers in 205 Squadron RAF and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross as Lieutenant on 5 July 1918.
