Personal information
Leonard Harold Anstey enlisted on 26 March 1940 and served in the Royal Navy throughout the Second World War until being released on 29 March 1946. He joined HMS Ark Royal on 10 May 1940 until she was sunk on 13 November 1941. Afterwards he was assigned to HMS Dauntless and participated in the Normandy landings aboard HMS Durban, which was scuttled as part of the artificial harbour Gooseberry in the Seine Bay on 9 June 1944. Leonard then served aboard HMS Paladin with the Pacific Fleet from 17 February 1945 to 30 October 1945.
