Personal information
Son of Wilfred and Maria Sheen (nee Evans), of Tarvin, Cheshire. George Henry Sheen survived the sinking of HMS Whittaker and according to word of mouth he received a medal for saving one of his shipmates, who later died. George then joined HMS Ulysses and later witnessed the surrender of the Japanese forces in the Tokyo Bay. After his discharge from the Royal Navy he emigrated to Australia with his wife Betty. He died from a diabetic shock in 1960.
