Personal information
Son of Henry James and Ellen Elizabeth Herbage (nee Hall); husband of Amelia Ethel Herbage (nee Anderson). Family stories are that William was injured jumping from the torpedoed Llandaff Castle carry a child, and that he was in a life raft with the child and other adult males who were not rescued by the warship but came ashore somewhere staying in a village - eventually being rescued by a sea plane.
