Son of Robert Elliott and Martha Louisa Hudgins, of Gwynn’s Island, Mathews County, VA; husband of Elizabeth Wynne Hudgins, of Baltimore, MD. On Gwynn’s Island he lived directly across the Edwards Creek from his cousin, Walter Gwynn Edwards, both descendants of John Gwynn and Mildred Reade, Humphrey Gwynn and Martha Peyton, Houlder Hudgins and Frances Gwynn, and Walter Gwynn and Dorothy Reade (married in 1763). His home was adjacent to the Hudgins-Edwards Family Cemetery on the island.
