Personal information
Adolphe Julien D'Agorne survived the sinking of Port Gisborne in one of the two lifeboats. His wife had been informed of the attack and was notified that he had been lost at sea. She was therefore very surprised when he arrived at the house, whilst she was surrounded by her friends who were comforting her at the time. Her reported comment when he appeared, disheveled, and in second hand clothing was, "Julien, at least you could have shaved before turning up!"
