Personal information
Husband of Mavis Kenny, of Belfast. Robert A. Kenny was interned by the Vichy French authorities after the sinking of Allende, but as citizen of a neutral country not kept with the other survivors in Timbuktu. He had to remain with the American consul in Dakar until all survivors were released after four months and arrived in Bathurst on 16 July 1942. He was taken to Freetown from where he was repatriated to the UK aboard the New Northland.
