Personal information
John Philip Ogilvie Evans had joined HMS Mourne in March 1944. He later remembered that he was out on the flying bridge and watched the torpedo track as it approached the ship. It hit just below his position which blew him off the ship and into the water. After surviving the sinking of HMS Mourne he became first lieutenant aboard HMS Loch Scavaig.
