Next of kin: S.J. Heimensen, of Amsterdam
He was picked up by HMS Culver after the sinking of Bennekom, transferred to HMS Lulworth and landed at Bathurst on 20 November 1941. All survivors were taken to Freetown aboard the depot ship HMS Alca and Alderamin and eventually returned to the UK aboard Volendam, arriving in Avonmouth on 21 December 1941.
Willem Heimensen was one of the four men rescued from a raft by the J.A. Mowinckel after the sinking of Crijnssen.
