Personal information
Roy A. Peacock had been a messman aboard the American steam tanker T.C. McCobb which was sunk by the Italian submarine Pietro Calvi about 600 miles east of Paramaribo on 31 March 1942. He was rescued but not repatriated together with the other survivors because his injured hand had to be treated in a hospital first, so he later joined Crijnssen for repatriation. Sunk again, he survived a third sinking after being picked up by Lebore and finally arrived New Orleans aboard the Chilean passenger ship Copiapo on 29 June.
