Personal information
James Anderson made himself a year older when joining the Merchant Navy and then served aboard Port Hardy since November 1940. He not only survived the sinking of this ship in April 1941, but also that of Empire Beaumont which was sunk about one month after he joined her by German aircraft in convoy PQ-18 on 13 Sep, 1942. In November 1942 he joined the California Star and survived his third sinking in three years in March 1943.
