Alvin T. Kemble, Jr., 91, of Chambers Hill entered into eternal rest Friday, July 17, 2015, at Frey Village Retirement Center, Middletown. Born in Lykens on May 28, 1924, he was the son of the late Alvin T., Sr., and Ruby Emee Metz Kemble.
Alvin retired as a masonry worker for the Hershey Foods Corporations. He was an U.S. Navy Armed Guard veteran having served in World War II. He actively attended the Evangelical Free Church of Hershey. Along with his wife, Thelma, he was a founding member of the Armed Guard Merchant Marine, Hummelstown. Alvin was a life member of the former Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1687, Hummelstown; and enjoyed attending World War II Round Table meetings and conventions. A devoted family man, Alvin loved nothing more than to spend time with his family, and never missed any of his grandsons' sporting events or other activities. Alvin was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Thelma V. Garrett Kemble, on December 7, 2010; three brothers, Harold 'Fritz' Kemble, Galen Kemble, and Robert Kemble; and three sisters, Anna Kanoff, Mary Veigle, and JoAnn Holman. He is survived by two sons, Gary L. Kemble husband of Wendy L., and Roy E. Kemble husband of Linda E., both of Harrisburg; two grandsons, Cody L. Kemble husband of Nicole of Ledyard, CT, and Trey J. Kemble of Harrisburg.
