Personal information
On 26 Apr, 1941, Victor Cooke Robinson joined the Bengore Head at Belfast and survived her sinking less than two weeks later. He made it safely back to Belfast from where he wrote a letter to his fiancée who lived in Dublin to advise her he was ‘back home and not to worry’, also asking her to arrange their wedding ‘sooner rather than later’ as he had a month’s leave and they would fit in a ‘honeymoon’. They were married in Dublin on the 2 June 1941 and Victor returned to duty when he joined the Empire Cougar on 10 July 1941.
