Personal information
After Columbine was torpedoed, an older couple who had only one life jacket between them, decided to die together and handed the lifejacket to D.J. Molony who had none. The couple were LtCdr Stephen Morley and his wife who both perished in the sinking. D.J. Molony helped to steer a lifeboat by navigating by the stars for several days until the occupants were rescued and taken to Capetown. He later recounted that some of those on board the lifeboat committed suicide by jumping overboard.
