Personal information
Cadet Scurr became responsible for a lifeboat in lieu of the chief officer during the abandonment of City of Venice. He was alone with 50 soldiers and 30 Indian crew members in a boat intended to carry 53 persons, but took charge in a very efficient manner and succeeded in getting all his men safely picked up by HMS Teviot.
