Personal information
Reginald George Lock had worked as a merchant at Medan, Sumatra and fled to Australia when Japanese forces attacked the Netherlands East Indies. He eventually reached the UK four months later after surviving the sinking of two ships: He survived the sinking of Polyphemus in the lifeboat in charge of the chief officer and was rescued by the Maria Amelia. Reginald also survived the sinking of Suecia in the lifeboat in charge of the chief officer and was rescued by HMS Hartland.
