Personal information
His recollections about the sinking, courtesy of his daughter Anne:
The Cape Verde was sunk in the Grenadine Islands and two crew perished. Fifteen survivors spotted land on the third day. They beached their raft on Little Tobago and came across three natives collecting bird eggs. From there they made their way to the beautiful island of Mayreau and onward to Union Island, St. Vincent, Port of Spain, New York and Halifax, Nova Scotia where they joined the Winnipeg which sailed for Liverpool. What an adventure for his 19th birthday!
