Personal information
Son of Arthur William and Isobel Margaret Cooper, of Invergowrie, Angus. His brother Norman Roy Cooper was lost when the British steam merchant Benvorlich was bombed and sunk by a German aircraft on 19 March 1941.
Arthur William Cooper was rescued by HMCS Timmins after the sinking of Empire Sailor, but died from phosgene gas poisoning and was buried at sea in position 43°50N/62°05W at 11.15 hours on 22 Nov, 1942.
