Personal information
Son of William Henry and Sarah Wiseman; husband of Mary Ethel Wiseman, of Carnmoney, Co. Antrim, Northern Ireland. Quartermaster Wiseman operated the fire foam container in the attempt to extinguish the fire in #2 hold after City of Venice had been torpedoed. When he saw this was having no effect he came to the bridge to report that he could not control the fire and quietly asked what towing gear should be made ready. He lost his life when lifeboat #8 capsized during the rescue by HMS Teviot.
